Question: What are webpage counters?
Answer: We are currently offering two types of counters; the first is a JavaScript counter while the second is a graphical counter. What these do is they allow you and your visitors to see how many times a particular page have been loaded in a browser.
Question: How do webpage counters work?
Answer: Our webpage counters are simple little programs that require no programming experience and are done in copy and paste style. Simply paste the counter’s code in your web page and it will automatically start to work. Each time a particular page is loaded the number on the counter goes up incrementally.
Question: Why do I need a webpage counter?
Answer: Each person has their own reasons for wanting a webpage counter, but in general it is a great way for you and your visitors to see how many times a particular page has been loaded. Sure you could use a statistical service, but remember these require the visitor to the website to have JavaScript enabled on their browser and if it is not then the data also cannot be accurate. Our graphical counters work regardless of whether JavaScript is enabled or not.
Summary:
While web page counters may be the oldest form of website statistical data, it is important to remember that the first graphical website counters were created long before JavaScript was used on websites. Most statistical data programs require the use of client-side technology like JavaScript while at the same time people can simply turn off their browser’s JavaScript functions and in the event that they do, these newer statistical programs will not even count them as a visitor.
As a result, a JavaScript based website statistical data is inaccurate and incomplete. If you really want to know how many times a particular page has been visited on your website then the only real way to do it is to use one our neat little counters. The process itself is rather simple, all you need to do is to setup an account and then you will get the code needed to place one of our counters on your website.
Notes:
It is important to keep in mind that a website visitor can enable and/or disable JavaScript in their browser and if they have it disabled, then a JavaScript counter will not work properly. Likewise with the advent of using portable devices like cell phones, PDAs and even game consoles to surf the internet, the use of the graphical counters may not report accurately when a page is loaded by one of these devices. Ultimately the choice is up to you because both our JavaScript and Graphical counters have pros and cons associated with them and so you will need to make the final decision on which style you will want to use for your website.
